In this year of your child's journey at West Byfleet Infant School we aim to provide children with rich, engaging and enjoyable learning opportunities and experiences across all areas of the curriculum. We are a happy team of dedicated staff, who enjoy working together to achieve the very best for all the children in order for them to reach their individual potential. We spend much time throughout the year building up strong and positive relationships with all of our children, so that we get to know them all as individuals. We enjoy finding out what makes them smile and provide extra support and care in order for all children to feel celebrated and valued.

We feel that children are at their happiest and most motivated when they learn in an environment that is supportive, nurturing and positive. We encourage the children to take risks with their learning and develop and strengthen team work skills, in order to achieve their very best. The children in Year Two gain skills and understanding within a varied and broad curriculum, which incorporates opportunities to develop both their academic and social, moral, spiritual and cultural thinking. We carefully plan a progressive curriculum to ensure all individuals can succeed, and within this curriculum we endeavour to provide many hands on experiences. We always ensure the learning is fun and we like to make use of the local and wider community to further enhance our curriculum.

Learning Environment

Our classroom learning environments are reflective and celebratory of the children's learning achievements, as well as demonstrating ongoing projects and learning skills that the children are developing.

The Year Two team are very passionate about providing an excellent level of education and developing every aspect of each child, not only their academic achievements but also their social and emotional well being, thus preparing them for their smooth transition to Junior School.

Charlotte Haley (Year 2 Leader), Sophie Pugh, Leigh Dootson and all of the Year Two Team.
